Lachlan and Alisha

Lachlan and Alisha went to high school together but finally found their connection when reintroduced by a mutual friend at a New Year’s Eve party many years later where their love story began. They spent the whole night talking and quickly realised there was something special happening – they’ve been together every day since that night.

In January 2012, the couple welcome baby Jax, followed by Clair in February 2013 and finally Vaughan in August 2015. Their family was complete, with Lachlan continuing to surprise Alisha with flowers (even from the garden), hot bubble baths and an occasional foot massage – he showed his family and young children how a man loves and supports his woman.

Alisha says they’re soulmates and although polar opposites in many ways, they’re best friends who love the simple things in life, a BBQ lunch with family being all the entertainment they need.

In September, 2016 Lachlan had a mole removed from just above his temple and a few weeks later the surgeon called them to arrange to have surrounding tissue removed and 3 lymphynoids which showed he had Stage 3 Melanoma. Surgeons were confident they removed all the cancer.

In August 2017, Lachlan found a small lump on his jawline which an MRI soon revealed was the return of the cancer. Two weeks later he underwent a 12-hour operation to remove all the lymphoids from the top of his face through to his collarbone, and the removal of his parotid gland where surgeons discovered 6 tumours-not the 4 originally thought. This left Lachlan with the right-hand side of his face paralysed and 10 days recovering.

Hope rose when his 3-month scan showed the all clear, but sadly Lachlan’s 6-month scan showed the melanoma now in his brain with over 20 tumours.

Of course, their application was granted the same day it was lodged and the Ballina My Wedding Wish crew of amazing angels stepped in to create magic for this loved up couple.

Their beautiful ceremony was a highlight for the couple, their children, family and friends. On the beach at Ballina on 12 July 2018 surrounded by their closest, in a wonderful soulful ceremony, and supported by the region’s amazing wedding suppliers, the couple married. The weather was perfect, and love and laughter danced to the breaking waves. Despite adversity – Lachlan and Alisha see each other as soulmates whose love is meant to be!
